Hey all – if you haven’t noticed yet, its HOT out here in the Town of Homes. The Belmont Municipal Light Department (BMLD) is passing along the following heat advisory and encouraging all of us to try to take steps to conserve energy to help us deal with the increased demand for power.
Here’s the message:
We’re in the middle of a heat wave, with temperatures soaring into the 90s… BMLD encourages customers to continue to conserve energy by rescheduling and reducing their electrical consumption whenever possible. BMLD will continue to do its part by monitoring, maintaining and transferring the load during times of peak consumption.
Residents can reduce consumption with simple measures such as turning off lights in unoccupied rooms, closing window shades or blinds, and shutting down electronics that are not in use. Rescheduling operation of appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, and pool filters to later in the evening or early in the morning can help prevent electrical outages.
As always…. remember to protect appliances and electronics from voltage instability caused by momentary power fluctuations or outages. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, surge protectors, and surge suppressors will best protect this equipment. These protection devices can be purchased locally.
