If you support replacing our aging and decrepit public library with a modern facility, there is a critical meeting Monday evening at 7:00 PM.
With per pupil spending in Belmont already about $3,000 per student/per year below the State average per district ($12,700 in Belmont vs. $15,900 avg.), our public schools entered the pandemic stretched to the breaking point. Now we risk plunging into a full-blown fiscal crisis with layoffs of instructional staff, increased class sizes and cuts to supplies.

The Board of Selectmen will meet to consider and vote on the Community Path route tomorrow, Monday, Feb 25th. Safe routes for cyclists and pedestrians are a matter of life and death for Belmont residents. The Selectmen should consider that in making their decision.

The low-down on Mondays Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss the proposed change to the Community Path, after the MBTA raised safety concerns about a proposed route that crosses the tracks at Brighton Street.
The Selectmen will have a tough vote on the Community Path again Monday evening. Once again Community Path supporters need to turn out in force to the Selectmen’s Hearing Room at Belmont Town Hall on Monday to voice support for a safe, off road route connecting Belmont to the Minuteman Path and Alewife MBTA station.
