The Belmont Housing Authority manages a portfolio of 262 state aided public housing units and provides housing assistance for low-income families, veterans, elderly and disabled. The Authority also administers 17 state aided Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) vouchers, and 47 federally aided Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
The Housing Authority Board oversees the Housing Authority and is made up of 5 members, 4 of which are elected for overlapping 5-year terms while the fifth is appointed by the Governor. Per state requirement, the Board must have one member who is current tenant of the Authority. The Board sets policy and are the fiduciaries of the Authority. A full-time, salaried executive director supervises and coordinates the programs.

| Candidate’s Statement | Belmont Housing Authority is home to 254 low and moderate income households who live in our three properties, Belmont Village, Sherman Gardens and Waverley Oaks. Working together, the BHA Board of Commissioners and our dedicated staff have successfully stabilized and improved management operations, established a productive working relationship with the BHA tenant council, and we have begun the planning process for revitalizing our properties to preserve these valuable assets and create additional affordable homes. I look forward to continuing in my role as a Commissioner to promote the mission of the BHA to provide safe, affordable and quality housing to residents of our community. |

| Housing | Town Meeting needs to actively support new development by awarding additonal CPA funds to the Housing Trust and the BHA as they seek to build new affordable housing and leverage state funding. As importantly, residents need to make their voices heard at Town hearings and forums when new developments or redevelopments are proposed so that Town officials and board members understand that affordable housing is a priority for our Town to ensure housing stability and economic growth. |
