Calling all runners: Belmont’s fall classic, the Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) Apple Run is next Sunday! And, if you haven’t registered to run yet, time is drawing short. The deadline for pre-registration is Wednesday evening at 11:59 PM. So, if you want to run and hope to avoid the crowds at the day-of registration booth, you have just two more days to register.
You can use the button below to register or visit the FBE Website to learn more about the event.
In its ninth year, the FBE Apple Run (fka The Dan Scharfman Memorial Run) raises money for the Foundation for Belmont Education. I helped start the race back in 2013 following the unexpected death of my friend, longtime Belmontonian and former Belmont School Committee member Dan Scharfman. Since then, the event has raised close to $200,000 in private money to help fund educational opportunities in the Belmont Public Schools.
After a virtual race last year, due to COVID, the Apple Run is back in person this year and already we have close to 500 runners who have registered for either the 5K event or the 1 mile race that follows it. Both races start and finish at the High School track. You can view the courses here.
That’s a welcome change and this year’s race is shaping up to be lots of fun, thanks to continued support from sponsors like CitySide Subaru, Belmont Orthodontics and Didriks/Local Root.
The Apple Run is Belmont’s Fall Classic and a great morning of fun with music (provided by DJ Paul Madden), group stretches and lots of cheering. I look forward to seeing you all down at the track!
