Bring out your (broken) Stuff! Belmont Fix-it Clinic Saturday!

Hey Blogging Belmont! Just a heads up that Belmont’s second Fix-it Clinic will be happening this Saturday, May 25th from 1PM to 4PM in the Assembly Room at Belmont Public Library.

The Arlington-Belmont Fix-it Clinic is sponsored by Sustainable Belmont will feature a range of fix-it coaches who can help you repair a wide range of home appliances, electronics and more – everything from lamps and furniture to kitchen mixers to i-Phone and Android smart phones.

  • If you have an item that you need fixed, you can walk in. Even better is to register for the event. You can do that by clicking on this link.
  • If you have repair-chops and some tools (we can provide others) and want to volunteer as a repair coach, that’s great also. You can do that by clicking on this link.
Belmont’s first Fix-it Clinic in February was well attended. Our second is this Saturday from 1-4pm at the Assembly Room at Belmont Public Library.

Fix-it clinics are part of a global, grass roots movement to extend the life of the stuff we all use and, in so doing, fight a “throw away” culture that is both expensive and damaging. With electronics the fastest growing waste stream in the world – and one with considerable hazards for our air, water and soil – fixing your stuff instead of replacing it can pay big dividends.

Our first Fix-it clinic in February was a big success and we’re hoping for a big turn out to this Saturday. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact Sustainable Belmont at: fix-it@sustainablebelmont.net to get your questions answered.
