Report: Romney to sell Marsh St. residence

According to a report in the Boston Globe, Mitt Romney’s Marsh St. home is one of two he is putting up for sale, along with a spacious ski lodge at the Deer Valley resort in Utah.

Eric Fehrnstrom (remember him) a spokesman for the family say that Mitt and Ann are downsizing, now that their children have left the home(s) and started off on their own. The decision to sell the two mansions isn’t related to the Romneys’ finances or losses from his failed presidential bid in 2008. The Zillow blog has a nice summary of the events here. According to their Zestimates (which take comparable sales and other factors into account), the couple’s Marsh St. residence, built in 1930, features 6,430 sq feet of living space, six bedrooms, 6.5 baths and an 106,000 square foot lot, is worth around $2.5 million — down from around $3.9 million a year ago and about on par with its 2002 value. The Deer Valley home is estimated to be worth around $5.25 million.
